Press Launching of PSA Videos for the International Coastal Clean-up Day

WHAT:  PRESS LAUNCHING OF PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS (PSA) FOR THE INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEAN-UP DAY (ICCD) ON SEPTEMBER 21, 2013

We would like to invite you to a press launch of public service announcements for the International Coastal Clean-up Day (ICCD) tomorrow, September 14, 2013, Saturday, at 10:00 a.m.

The videos were produced by Earth Island Institute Philippines with the help of multi-awarded actor,Raymond Bagatsing; indie film-maker, Karl Ramirez; volunteer artists, environmentalists, birders and fisherfolks. In spite of the onslaught of the Typhoon Maring, the actors and the production team pursued the shoot of four different stories that aim to inspire people to protect Manila Bay and our marine resources against trash and impending reclamation projects.

The ICCD, which is globally celebrated every 3rd week of September, will be held at Freedom Island and Long Island (the islands comprising the Las Pinas-Paranaque Critical Habitat and Eco-tourism Area) on September 21. Said area is a bird sanctuary and the last remaining mangrove frontier in Metro manila which was recently included in the Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance.

The Earth Island Outdoor Environmental Club shall also spearhead a clean up drive in General Santos City during the ICCD that would be participated by students and various organizations.
