I would like to welcome everyone to our second #AskNEDA (read: hashtag AskNEDA) media briefing for 2019. We are only in the first quarter of the year, but as you have seen, we are already welcoming several successes, in terms of policy reforms. One of them, at the top of our legislative agenda, is the Rice Tariffication Act or Republic Act 11203.

MANILA – Rice tariffication will directly benefit both farmers and the poor through lower rice prices and increased government assistance to the agricultural sector, the National Economic and Development Authority said.
Budget Secretary Benjamin E. Diokno said on Tuesday that PhP5 billion has already been released under the 2018 national budget to protect farmers from possible adverse effects of the lifting of the Minimum Access Volume (MAV) on rice.
Three major policy reforms that are already undergoing legislative process will assist foreign investment in the Philippines, said the National Economic and Development Authority.
The newly enacted Universal Health Care Act will improve people’s quality of living through expanded healthcare coverage for all Filipinos, the National Economic and Development Authority said.
The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) is taking the lead in crafting the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the recently signed Rice Tariffication Act or RA 11203, ensuring the country’s smooth and timely transition to a new rice regime.
