NEDA Kicks Off Luzon Roadshow to Drive Regional Innovation Transformation

The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) took a bold step towards fostering innovation across Luzon with the initiation of its roadshow series on October 26, 2023. This dynamic initiative aims to raise awareness and catalyze the regional implementation of the National Innovation Agenda and Strategy Document (NIASD) 2023-2032.

Launched officially on September 27, 2023, the NIASD is designed to position innovation as a catalyst for social and economic transformation, aligning with the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028. It provides a comprehensive roadmap and strategies to enhance innovation governance, expedite innovation efforts, and cultivate robust public-private partnerships.

Undersecretary Rosemarie G. Edillon emphasized the government’s commitment to harmonizing efforts, formulating supportive policies for science, technology, and innovation, enhancing innovation infrastructure, and implementing inclusive programs across academia, the scientific community, businesses, and the MSME sector.

During the Luzon leg of the roadshows, Undersecretary Edillon, along with National Innovation Council members Monchito B. Ibrahim and Dr. Gisela P Concepcion, engaged in insightful discussions with guest innovators from the city government of Balanga, KloudTech, and GK Enchanted Farms. These innovators shared their experiences and perspectives on innovation, shedding light on the essential steps required to empower innovators to drive inclusive social and economic transformation in the Philippines.

The event also featured workshops where attendees from local and national government actively discussed the regional implementation of the NIASD and strategies for effective communication and mainstreaming of the document.

To fortify the NIASD’s implementation and foster tailored innovation ecosystems, NEDA’s Innovation staff initiated the roadshows for Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The aim is to promote the NIASD among regional innovation stakeholders within the government. The upcoming legs in Visayas and Mindanao are scheduled for November.
