SEARCH FOR OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEERS 2012 KICKS OFF

MANILA—The Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) — an attached agency under the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) — together with the National Volunteer Month Steering Committee and the Search for Outstanding Volunteers Regional Search Committees, is launching the Search for Outstanding Volunteers (SOV) 2012.

The SOV 2012 highlights and recognizes the exemplary performance and dedication of Filipino volunteers in building strong communities across the country. Since 2001, 96 volunteer individuals and organizations from various sectors all over the country have been bestowed with an SOV award.

For this year’s SOV, two award categories will be given – the National Outstanding Volunteer Award (NOVA) and the Volunteer Lifetime Achievement Award (VLAA).

The NOVA is conferred to outstanding volunteer individuals and organizations, and volunteering initiatives, while VLAA is conferred to a Filipino volunteer organization or a local chapter of a foreign volunteer organization serving in the Philippines for at least 25 years.

The Search is open to Filipino citizens, Filipino volunteer organizations, and local chapters of foreign volunteer organizations which currently provide volunteer assistance in the Philippines. The deadline for submission of nominations is on August 17, 2012.  The awarding ceremony will be held during the National Volunteer Month celebration in December 2012.

Nomination forms are available at the PNVSCA with address at NEDA sa Q.C. Building, EDSA, Diliman, Quezon City. These are also available at the NEDA Regional Offices and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Regional Planning and Development Office (ARMM-RPDO).
