I would like to welcome everyone to our second #AskNEDA (read: hashtag AskNEDA) media briefing for 2019. We are only in the first quarter of the year, but as you have seen, we are already welcoming several successes, in terms of policy reforms. One of them, at the top of our legislative agenda, is the Rice Tariffication Act or Republic Act 11203.

MANILA – Rice tariffication will directly benefit both farmers and the poor through lower rice prices and increased government assistance to the agricultural sector, the National Economic and Development Authority said.
Budget Secretary Benjamin E. Diokno said on Tuesday that PhP5 billion has already been released under the 2018 national budget to protect farmers from possible adverse effects of the lifting of the Minimum Access Volume (MAV) on rice.
